How about a thunderous round of applause for Highway Diner in Rocky Mount! This popular eatery at 810 N. Winstead Avenue has won our Best of Carolina poll for diners statewide. The balloting ended this morning at 9:00. At that moment the Highway Diner had garnered an impressive to 42% of more than 3,400 ballots cast in NC’s Best Diner survey. Blue Ribbon Diner in Mebane and Burlington came in second with 33% of the vote. 4 Corners Diner of Atlantic Beach edged Watkins in Raleigh for third place with slightly better than 5% of the total.
Huh, I ended up at the Burlington Diner a few nights ago. The food was very nice, plus our waitress was psychic. I don’t know if it’s the best diner food I’ve ever had, though, it takes a lot to impress a Jersey girl with a diner! But I’ll probably go back.
